WGSS Graduate Student Handbook

WGSS Graduate Student Handbook: This handbook is, in essence, your "rules of the road" for the MA program in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Information on what is required for each stage of the program is contained in it.


Forms for WGSS Graduate Students

Graduate Committee Form: This form is for students who have selected either the thesis track. Once you have found a thesis director, you will fill out this form and have the thesis director sign off on it. When you and your thesis director have selected your committee members, they will also sign this form.

Thesis Approval Form: Graduate students ready to defend the thesis will need to fill out this form online and then take it to the oral defense to gather committee members' signatures after successfully defending the thesis. File a copy, complete with signatures, with the WGSS Graduate Director before submitting the signed original to the Office of Graduate Studies.

Graduate Assistantship Application: Use this form to apply for a graduate assistantship in WGSS.

Graduate Studies Professional Development Workshops: Interested in polishing your presentation skills for conferences, honing your writing skills, or researching more effectively? These free workshops will help you with just that!

Student Government Conference Presentation Grants: Presentation grants can help defray the cost of travel to conferences for students who are making conference presentations. These grants go quickly, so apply early!

Career Services: Career Services is an excellent resource if you're looking for assistance finding work.

: Our department is fortunate enough to have a dedicated librarian, Allison Symulevich, who can assist you with your academic research. 

: Students conducting research with human subjects must comply with all standards and practices as outlined with the USF IRB.

: This is a fantastic blog that is filled with useful ideas for making the best of grad school.

: The GPSC advocates and represents graduate students campus-wide with the university administration. The GPSC also provides some stipends for travel to conferences where grad students are presenting. Keep in mind that travel funds are limited, so be sure to apply early!

Student Health Services: Currently-enrolled students who require medical care can receive free or low-cost services through SHS.

Insurance for Graduate Assistants: Depending on your job appointment, graduate assistants are eligible for either partial or full subsidization of their student health insurance. This site will provide you with information on enrolling in the plan.
