Dear USF community,
I am excited to share an update about my leadership team.

As you may recall, Dan Caterinicchia has been serving as Interim Vice President and
Chief Marketing Officer for University Communications and Marketing (UCM) since April
2023, in addition to his role overseeing communications and marketing for the USF
Foundation. Today, I am thrilled to announce that Dan has agreed to take on the permanent
role of VP and CMO for UCM.
Over the last 10 months, Dan has led the incredibly talented UCM team across our three
campuses during a truly momentous period for USF. From the announcement of our invitation
to join the Association of American Universities, to the grand opening of the new
Judy Genshaft Honors College building, and last month’s release of the first renderings
for our future on-campus stadium, Dan and his team continue to raise the bar for telling
the ÉîÒ¹¿´Æ¬ story, while strengthening our brand and reputation locally, nationally and
globally.
Dan's steadfast leadership has been instrumental in maintaining momentum amid our
recent achievements and upward trajectory. His unwavering commitment in the role will
help ensure a future of continued success and growth.
Since joining USF in January 2022 as Associate Vice President for Advancement Communications
and Marketing (ACM) as a member of Jay Stroman’s leadership team, Dan’s ACM team has
consistently helped raise the expectations of our donors, alumni, and friends through
numerous major gift announcements benefiting our students, faculty, patients, researchers
and healthcare heroes; promoting key corporate and community partnerships; and reimagining
the look and feel of USF Magazine.

Dan brings over 25 years of experience in higher education, digital communications
and marketing, university advancement, content strategy and creation, and journalism
to his new role. Before Dan, his wife Kaitlyn, and their three children moved to Tampa,
he worked at The Ohio State University leading an Advancement Communications team
that helped conclude a $3 billion campaign in 2016 and publicly launch another with
the dual goals of $4.5 billion and one million donors three years later.
Prior to joining OSU Advancement, Dan briefly served as a strategic communications
advisor in the State of Ohio Office of Budget and Management after teaching in Ohio
State’s School of Communication for five years. Before moving to Ohio, Dan worked
as a journalist for a decade in Washington, D.C., culminating in a business editor
position with The Associated Press. He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism, cum
laude, from American University in Washington and a master’s degree from the University
of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Please join me in congratulating Dan and offering your continued support of the UCM
team in their efforts to elevate our university’s storytelling, brand and reputation.

Sincerely,
Rhea F. Law
President
