Alumnus Matthew Lopez鈥檚 The Inheritance Takes Stage at The Young Vic Theatre in London

The Inheritance, written by playwright and USF theatre alumnus Matthew Lopez, took the stage at The Young Vic Theatre in London March 2 through May 19 2018.

The play, inspired by EM Forster's novel Howard's End, is a two-part play about gay men living in New York in the wake of the AIDS crisis.

The Inheritance features renowned British director Stephen Daldry and Tony award-winning actress Vanessa Redgrave, who starred in the 1992 film adaptation of Howard's End.

Lopez earned a bachelor's degree in theatre performance from USF in 2000. His past works include The Whipping Man, Somewhere, Reverberation, and The Legend of Georgia McBride.

In January 2019, The Inheritance in the categories of best new play, best director (Stephen Daldry), and best new actor (Kyle Soller).
