Robert M. MacLeod, AIA is a Professor at 深夜看片's School of Architecture & Community Design.
Professor MacLeod's academic research focuses on urban design and community planning issues within the "unfinished project" of the contemporary city, public space infrastructure, conditions of suburban sprawl, and redevelopment strategies for abandoned commercial centers and edges. He was the founding Director of the University of Florida's Orlando "Citi-Lab" Studio and has served as primary investigator for several funded research projects including the "West Kendall Study," an environmentally sensitive commercial and residential master plan for a 160-acre property south of Miami, bordering the Florida Everglades, and sponsored by the Rouse Company of Columbia, Maryland; "The Ruskin Project," a proposal for contemporary suburban re-development in southwest Florida; and "Intervention as Context," an analytical study of Orlando, Florida, the first of several Orlando-based research studies and projects.
MacLeod was the co-director of the University of Florida Hong Kong/China Research Studio from 2004-09 and has developed research and professional work related to the Asian mega-city and podium building type. As an educator, Professor MacLeod's teaching and pedagogical development efforts have received several awards. He has presented papers and exhibited design/research work at numerous academic and professional venues. Professor MacLeod is a licensed architect and member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). He has worked with award-winning architectural offices in Boston and Orlando on a wide range of buildings including residential, commercial, public works, office, educational, and medical projects.
Professor MacLeod is a partner in SWiMcau (Sanders Wang MacLeod International Consortium for Architecture & Urbanism). SWiMcau's projects are sited in Asia and the United States, range from residential to urban design work and include a proposal for a multi-use development consisting of retail, housing, public park, and mosque near Jakarta, Indonesia. His architectural work with SWiMcau and other firms has received several Design Awards from the AIA. MacLeod was born in Europe and raised in both Europe and the U.S. Educated at the University of Florida (BDesign) and the Harvard Graduate School of Design (M.Arch., recipient of the Julia Appleton Traveling Fellowship), he was a tenured Associate Professor in the School of Architecture at the University of Florida where he taught from 1987 to 2009.
